{"id":7652,"date":"2019-08-02T10:40:28","date_gmt":"2019-08-02T15:40:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.myphillylawyer.com\/?p=7652"},"modified":"2025-06-03T18:21:45","modified_gmt":"2025-06-03T23:21:45","slug":"car-crash-lawyer-wins-2-2m-settlement-for-driver-in-crash-with-school-bus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.myphillylawyer.com\/yue\/2019\/08\/02\/car-crash-lawyer-wins-2-2m-settlement-for-driver-in-crash-with-school-bus\/","title":{"rendered":"Car Crash Lawyer Wins $2.2M Settlement for Driver in Crash with School Bus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A 34-year-old Illinois woman will receive a $2.2\nmillion settlement after she suffered broken bones and burns when her car collided\nwith a school bus which pulled out at an intersection into her path in 2015.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The victim, Carrie Scheetz, was driving home from work on\na county road in Rock Creek Township on Aug. 31, 2015 when\nthe crash occurred, according to a July 9 story by <em>WGEM News<\/em> of Quincy,\nIllinois. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The\nschool bus approached the intersection, stopped at a stop sign and then proceeded\nto pull out into the path of Scheetz&#8217;s Jeep Wrangler, which was traveling at 82\nmph in a posted 55 mph zone, the report continued. Scheetz said she saw the bus\nbut did not slow down or stop because she did not have a stop sign. The bus was\nbeing driven by Steven Holsted on behalf of the Nauvoo-Colusa Community School\nDistrict No. 325.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After the collision, Scheetz was trapped in\nher Jeep for 12 minutes as it caught fire before a passerby got her out of the\nvehicle, the story continued.
