Another victory for women facing transvaginal mesh complications: A New Jersey jury has awarded $3.35 million to a woman injured by a transvaginal mesh made by Johnson & Johnson’s Ethicon division.

The case, Gross v. Gynecare Inc., was heard by the Superior Court of Atlantic County, New Jersey. It is the first transvaginal mesh (TVM) jury verdict in New Jersey and the second TVM verdict over $3 million. Last year, in Scott v. Kannappan, a Bakersfield, California jury found transvaginal mesh manufacturer C. R. Bard, Inc. liable for $5.5 million for injuries caused by its Avaulta Plus.

The women in these cases are not unlike the thousands of women across the country who have suffered serious injuries after having transvaginal mesh surgery — and perhaps not unlike you or a woman you know.

In the California case, the plaintiff’s mesh cut into her colon, forcing her to undergo eight separate surgeries. In the New Jersey case, the plaintiff suffered from mesh erosion, inflammation and scar tissue. She has had 18 operations. Even if you haven’t had multiple operations to repair damage caused by your mesh — perhaps you couldn’t afford the operations or have tried other options — if your mesh has injured you, you may have a strong case against your TVM manufacturer.

Were You Injured By TVM? Take Action Now.

You were told that transvaginal mesh surgery would help, even remove your symptoms. Yet, instead of relief, your quality of life has gone down. Since undergoing TVM surgery, you have experienced serious complications, such as mesh erosion, infections, urinary problems, prolapse recurrence, even organ perforation. What can you do to recover compensation? How can you, too, receive the relief you need to find treatments and move forward?

The team of doctors and attorneys at MyPhillyLawyer in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, understand the challenges you have faced and can help you join the tens of thousands of women who have filed lawsuits to hold transvaginal mesh companies accountable for the injuries they have caused. You may be able to recover compensation for your medical bills — including future corrective surgery — pain and suffering, financial loss and other damages.

Remember: These multi-million dollar verdicts set the precedent for future lawsuits against TVM companies. A New Jersey jury has concluded that Johnson & Johnson and Ethicon are liable for “their defective design, manufacture, warnings and instructions” of the Gyncare Prolift vaginal mesh. We can expect similar verdicts in the future.
